In the Moment Painting
In the Moment
Mallett in the moment
I like to stop when I’m cycling! That sounds bizarre, but it’s about being in the moment and noticing everything. ( I’m cycling my Timmeee E bike so getting the momentum again is no trouble)
On this mammoth ride across Europe on the Camino de Santiago I found many opportunities to paint. This is one of them.
“Don’t be in too much of a hurry. When you see something inspirational - stop and paint it”
This modest village on the border of Brittany and Normandy was the subject. I liked the sunlight on the rooftops, the distant church spire, the bike on the path, backlit and the early spring sky with sunshine and cloudlets.
I took a few of photos, sketched something in my mind and worked up the result in my accommodation. You’ll notice that I changed the aspect from landscape to portrait. I wanted to show the scale of the bike, the fields with sheep, the distant village and big skies. Suddenly there’s drama in this adventure, and it’s massive.
